Many Nigerians have proven to be extremely loyal to their regional and ethnic entities. We tend to be more 'Hausa', 'Ibo', 'Yoruba', 'Ijaw', 'Fulani' or 'Egbira' rather than NIGERIAN. Our focus is more on the regions from which we come rather than the nation they create. Some poit to the 'Federal' system of government we run as the reason for this apathy. However, one of the greatest models of federalism is the United States which has citizens that, though regionally loyal, are fiercely nationalistic. HOW CAN NIGERIANS BE MORE CONSCIOUS OF NATIONAL ALLEGIANCE?
